Birthday Gift for My Daughter's Friend

Today is my daughter's friend, Megan's, birthday. She couldn't think of a gift for her, so she asked me to make something. The criteria: blue and green, butterflies, peace signs and lots of sparkle.

I went into my craftroom and found a peace sign stamp from Studio 112 that had butterflies inside of it. How perfect is that! Here's what I came up with.

Using Versamark, I heat embossed the peace sign stamp on a piece of Whisper White cardstock from Stampin' Up. I used a combination of yellow, blue and turquoise Glimmer Mist to color the background. I wanted the peace signs to standout, so I painted them with the darkest blue Glimmer Mist.

I created the peace sign with my Gypsy by using a couple of circles and a rectangle from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge. I cut that in green glitter paper from DCWV. I cut a shadow out of Island Indigo cardstock from Stampin' Up. I attached this to the background using Dimensionals.

I cut "Megan" out of Tempting Turquoise and Island Indigo cardstock from Stampin' Up. I added glitter to the Tempting Turquoise using Heat and Stick embossing powder from Stampin' Up. I attached this using a double layer of Dimensionals. The butterflies were cut from the Straight From the Nest Cricut cartridge.

I added the pearl swirls from Prima and put it in a shadow box frame Hobby Lobby. I think Megan will really like it.

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting,

Dana Desmond

Emma's Throwback Thursday Scrapbook Layout Challenge

My submission for this challenge is a scrapbook page of my son playing at the park when he was a little boy.

It's two 12x12 pages.

I used patterned paper from DCWV Nana stack and cardstock from my stash.

I used the Martha Stewart grass punch for the border.

I used Straight from the Nest to cut the tree at 6". I cuttlebugged the tree trunk and top leaf layer and inked the edges. I used scraps from punching the grass border and layered them at the tree base.

I cut the frog at 2.5 inches from the Create-a-Critter cartridge. I inked the layers before putting them together.

I couldn't find a sun shape on any of my cartridges, so I used my Gypsy and made one using some of the tag shadows on the Gypsy Wandering cart and a stick shape from Doodlecharms.

Thanks for stopping by,

The Pink Stamper's (aka Robyn) First Blog Hop

Friday evening Robyn, The Pink Stamper, hosted her first blog hop. It was a wonderful way to get to know her new Design Team. The rest of us crafters were given the opportunity to participate. Cleverly, Robyn instructed her team to include a secret "key word" at the end of their post. As you hopped from blog to blog, a secret message was reveled.

She's giving us the opportunity to make a project and post it on her website so everyone can hop on our blogs as well. Again, I made a card.
