Spookalicous Bundle, Not Just For Halloween

I love it when collections are so versatile, that even though they have a specific theme, there are plenty of elements and color choices that they can be used for any occasion.

I made two layouts with the new awesome Spookalicous kit by Sheila Reid at Pixel Scrapper. This kit has plenty of Halloween themed items and colors. However, the colors and some of the elements can be used in many different ways.

My first layout is a traditional (or maybe not so traditional) Halloween Layout, Featuring my "Little Vampire."  I love the colors in this kit. There are enough colors that I could have chosen to go with the traditional blacks, oranges, greens, and purples, but I loved the way the other colors match her costume.

The second layout is a costume layout, but not Halloween. It is a spring layout that features outfits for a concert at school were each class dressed as a different era and sang songs from that era. The bright colors from this kit worked perfectly to reflect the spring theme. Notice I used the "die cut" fun page from the kit, to make a journaling spot. The fun pages are actually 12 inches wide, but I thought the shape would make the perfect label. Even though the graphics are created one way, doesn't mean you have to use them that way. You have the option to resize as you see fit.

There were plenty of non-Halloween elements to chose from, which made it super easy to do this layout in about 15 minutes from planning to posting. Did I mention I love how quickly I can do a digital layout verses a traditional layout. This would have taken me hours to do traditionally because of the fear of wasting supplies. Not a problem with digi supplies; they never run out, so you have total creative freedom. Plus, if you don't like something, you don't have to rip elements off the page, you just hit delete and start over.

I hope you visit Pixel Scrapper to see all of the wonderful freebies and full kits available. You won't be disappointed.

Celebrating My Favorite Holiday with a Mojo Monday Challenge

My most favorite holiday of the year, HALLOWEEN. Maybe its because I'm an October baby or possibly because it's so darn FUN! Either way, I love to make Halloween cards. Unfortunately, Halloween isn't a huge card giving holiday.

So, I'm always looking for a good reason to do a Halloween project and when I opened my e-mail this morning and got a look at this week's Mojo Monday sketch, I knew that was the perfect reason.

Since I was a Stampin' Up demonstrator this past year (no longer part of that crew), all of my Halloween supplies are from Stampin' Up. I started by stamping this sweet image from Greeting Card Kids with Momento Tuxedo Black on Copic X-Press It cardstock. I colored it with Copic markers. Using Classic Circles Spellbinders Dies and Classic Scallops Dies, I cut the image, mat and scalloped circle.

I followed the sketch pretty closely.

I couldn't find flowers in my stash that were the right color. So, I used a couple of EK Success punches and made my own. The leaves were created using a flower punch from Stampin' Up.

A Sakura Star Dust pen was the perfect tool to add sparkly stars to the night sky. I imaged the light coming from the upper left and figured the highlights wouldn't be too strong because it's night. I'm not the greatest when it comes to light direction, but I'm trying to do a light study on all of my images before I start coloring (biggest thing I learned in my Intermediate Copic Class).

I add another flower and a sentiment (Studio G from Wal-mart).

I love how this turned out and will probably take this to work as part of my Halloween decorations.

Glowing Moon Halloween Card

I started by sponging the background with Stampin' Up ink.

Then I used my Stamp-a-ma-Jig to line up the image over the stamped background.

At first I was a little disappointed by how the house is lighter in front of the moon, but I think it gives an eerie glow to the card.

Vintage Halloween

I made this card a few months ago, but I don't think I published it. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up. I punched the sentiment block with Stampin' Up punches.

The image is from Stampin' Up's Greeting Card Kids set. I used the paper collection to paper piece the image. I colored the skin, broom, hair, and grass with Copic markers.

Patterned paper is from Basic Grey.

Halloween Sentiment using Shrinky Dinks and Stamps

This card started as an experiment with Shrinky Dinks. First I punched 1" circles out of white Shrinky Dink sheet. Then I colored them with Pumpkin Pie ink from Stampin' Up and stamped the letters on with Basic Black.

I used my heat gun to shrink each one. I then added Crystal Effects to each and set them aside to dry.

Stamps: StudioG
Ink: Stampin' Up
Embellishments: The Paper Studio, Crystal Effects from Stampin' Up

Flocked Bats and a Simple Image

Halloween card #3. This one uses flocked paper from Stampin' Up. It took me a while to decide what to do with this paper. The bats were so huge, any image I tried to pair with it just didn't work. Then I found this 31st image. It works well with the bat background.

Eat, Drink, and be Scarey

It's been a while since I created any cards, but with my favorite holiday coming up, I just couldn't resist making some spooky cards. I will be posting a new card each day until Halloween. I had tons of fun creating these cards.

The main image is from the Pick Your Poison pattered paper currently in the Holiday Mini catalog from Stampin' Up.

I know it's September, but I love Halloween

It has been an insane weekend. Sick kids, sick husband, and then it was my turn. I hate to say it, but work may be a relief. At least I know it will be very busy at work, which will make the week go by fast. I know, I know, don't wish your life away. At least that's what I tell my kids all the time.

Anyway, at least I got some crafting done. Here's are a few cards I've made over the week. My favorite is the never ending card. It was so much work. It's like making 4 cards at once. It was fun, but I won't make very many of these. It was so time consuming. I will probably only make one per holiday/season.

I've got a lot of other projects made. I'll try to get them up as soon as I can.

Materials
(I'll list as many as I can remember. Most of these were made from scraps I've had for a while and the packaging is long gone.)

Paper: DCWV, The Paper Studio
Ink: Stampin' Up

Halloween Signs

Wow, two posts in one day. I've been "working" very hard in my new craft area. I call it an area because I've taken 3 desks and an old dining room table and claimed one corner of our basement. I even used the ironing board to finish off the boundary. I love my craft area. I have shelves, but I have to get my husband to help me hang them.

Ok, enough. On with the next project. These pictures aren't the greatest. I made both of these as magnetic signs so I can hang them on the file cabinets at work.
