Creative Card Crew Challenge # 87 Embossing

This fortnight challenge over at Creative Card Crew is to create a paper project using embossing.

I used the Berry Sundae image set from Sparkle N Sprinkle for my card.

I began by printing the image and sentiment on a piece of Simon Says Stamp #120 cardstock and colored it with Copic markers. This digi set has many sentiments that work perfectly with this image.I then used my Signo Uni-ball white gel pen to add highlights to the image. 

Using an old paint brush, I lightly coated the "glass" portions of the image with Diamond Stickles.

Since the Stickles was a thin layer, it dried very quickly, allowing me to add a coat of Glossy Accents over the area.

Using a Spellbinders die, I cut the image piece, a brown mat layer, and a cream piece of index cardstock. I dry embossed the index layer using the Swirls embossing folder from Cuttlebug. I thought this pattern coordinated well with the swirl of the pudding.

I then embossed a Lavender Moon piece of cardstock from Papertrey Ink, using the Swiss Dots embossing folder, also by Cuttlebug. I wet embossed the edges of a piece of white cardstock using 1/4" Scor-pal tape and Rangesr's Enchanted Gold embossing power. The creamy color of the embossing folder coordinates well with the creamy color of the pudding and it adds a bit more sparkle to the card. 

I added the the Lavender Moon panel to a black cardstock based. I popped the focal image up on foam tape and finished the card off by adding faux stitching with my Sakura Sepia Metallic Gelly Roll Pen.

Snow Swirled Tree Card

This tree was cut from the Christmas Cricut cartridge at 4 1/2 inches. I used DCWV white glitter paper for the snow bank across the bottom of the card, the "snow swirls" on the tree and for the snowflakes, which were punched with a $.97 snowflake punch from StudioG.

The second layer of the swirls on the tree was cut out of Baja Breeze cardstock from Stampin' Up. The tree background was cut from Wild Wasabi from Stampin' Up. I received this sentiment free in a sample magazine a few months ago, but I can't remember what company makes it. I embossed the sentiment using Versamark and white powder. I punched it out with the small oval punch from Stampin' Up and layered it onto a piece of the glitter paper that I had punched with an oval punch, also from Stampin' Up. I added ribbon from my stash and adhered the snowflakes.

The background is a piece of Baja Breeze cardstock that I ran through my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. Then I lightly rubbed my Dazzle Versamark ink pad across the raised dots so they would standout a little better.

Papertrey Ink Make it Monday Challenge #6

This week Erin Lincoln presented a card using impression plates to deboss a portion of a die cut tag. The challenge is to use some form of embossing/debossing on a project. I chose to use two kinds of dry embossing for my card. One using my Cuttlebug and the other using the Martha Stewart Scoring Board.

It all starts here,

I used the flowers from the Friendship Jar Fillers stamp set. I stamped the image in Momento Tuxedo Black ink on Stamper's Delight cardstock. I colored it using my growing collection of Copic markers.

I die cut the image with my Nestabilites Label 8 dies. I also cut a piece of Sunrise cardstock using the Labels 8 die set to. I ran this through my Cuttlebug in the Swiss Dots folder. I layered these two pieces together.

I wrapped this piece with crinkle ribbon I found on sale at Hobby Lobby and topped it off with a pearl brad, also from Hobby Lobby. The sentiment and stamped frame are from Friendship Jar. I used the smallest die from the Labels 8 set to cut the tag. Before I removed the die, I inked the edges with Stampin' Up's Perfect Plum classic ink. I attached this to the card.

Using the Martha Stewart Scoring Board, I added diagonal score lines to the Plum Pudding cardstock. I layered the Plum piece to a 5" x 5 1/2" piece of patterned paper from the Egg Hunt pack. I added this to my 5 1/2" x 6" Sunrise card base. I popped up the focal image and called it done.

I love how this card turned out. The colors in the focal image go great with this paper pack. If you can't tell from previous posts, I love Papertrey Ink cardstock for cards. It's very sturdy and takes Copic coloring very well.

Stamp TV Sketch Challenge-STVSKSP9

Another sketch challenge submission for StampTV.  Click here to see this week's sketch.

I started with patterned paper from Me and My Big Ideas. I chose coordinating cardstock from Papertrey Ink in Spring Rain and Sweet Blush. I used the Swiss Dots and my Cuttlebug to emboss a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Sweet Blush cardstock. I attached this to the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base. I added the corner piece of patterned paper.

I cut the focal image using the Storybook Cricut cartridge at 3". The image is from the Greeting Cards Kid set from Stampin' Up. I colored this using my small collection of Copic Sketch Markers. I layered the focal image together and using Stampin' Up Dimensionals I added this to the top center portion of the card.

I use my Decorative Labels Spellbinders dies to cut the greeting tag out of Spring Rain cardstock. I added stamped my sentiment in Basic Black ink from Stampin' Up using the Fiskars Sentiments stamp set. I added a couple of silver brads and popped it up on the front of the card.

Full of Love Valentine's Treat Bag

 I've had my Cricut for about 6 months and never made a treat bag. So while I was looking for a project to do, I thought why not. Last fall, Provocraft gave all Gypsy owners 6 free cartridge uploads. One of these was Tags, Bags, Boxes and More. Never used it so thought what a perfect time. I cut the base of the treat bag at 7 3/4".

I used the Gypsy Font and Gypsy Wandering to cut the background paper, scalloped heart, pink heart, and letters. I used Stampendous gold embossing powder and double embossed the letters. I used the Swirls Cuttlebug folder on the pink heart. I pierced holes in the off white heart using my paper piercer from Stampin' Up. Then I inked the edges of all of the pieces with Rich Razzleberry from Stampin' Up.

 
I added Stampin' Up patterned paper to the front of the box and  added a bow to the top. Then I glued all my layers together and adhered them to the box. The flap of the box is held shut with a piece of Velcro.

The embossing makes the letters look almost metal.

Now I need to find someone special to give it to. Maybe I'll make three more and my Valentine's gifts are finished.

Pink, Green, and Brown

This was my original project for the My Pink Stamper design team challenge. When I finished making this card, I realized, "Silly, Robyn's design team is a Cricut design team." So, I started over using my Cricut and ended up with the design I submitted.

I wasn't going to post this, but I decided I like it too much not to post it. The stamp set I used is so cool. I comes with a bunch of different basket types and several filler stamps. I also purchased the sentiment stamps to go with it.

Cricut Cards-mass posting

Over the last few months I've made tons of cards, but I didn't post them. So, I'm going to post a bunch of my favorites that I've made so far. All of these use a Cricut image as the main focal point.

OK, no more mass postings. From now on I will only post one or two projects at a time.

My Pink Stamper Design Team "Audition"

Robyn at mypinkstamper.com is giving two people the opportunity to join her Design Team. She's posted a color challenge and from the projects you submit she will choose two lucky people to be part of her Design Team for the next 6 months.

The challenge is to use your Cricut to make a project with the colors Green, Brown, and Pink plus one other color of your choice. I decided to make a card. I would have loved to use a stamp for the sentiment, but when I went searching my small stash, I didn't have a stamp that worked. So, I had to hand write it.

Ribbon: Wal-mart
Flowers: Prima
Brad: Reflections (Michaels)
Glitter: Diamond Stickles

My card case is in Chocolate Chip and is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2". Then I cut the Regal Rose paper at 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" then I used the border punch on one side. On top of that I cut the Old Olive card stock at 4 1/2" x 5" and embossed it using my cuttlebug. Then I did the direct to paper techinque and brushed the Old Olive ink pad across the top of the embossed image. I layered all of these pieces together and added it to the card. I cut a slit in the top of the card and wrapped the ribbon all the way around and added a bow. Then I layered three Prima flowers and attached with a brad, then added this to the card. I cut the flower pattered paper at 1 1/2" x 5 1/5"  and added this to the bottom of the card.

Using the Sentamentials cartridge, I used my Gypsy to plan and cut the heat lock at 3 1/4" and the key at 4". I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More to cut the tag. I layed the pieces and inked the edges with Chocolate Chip ink and added my sentiment. I tied a piece of cotton thread from my stash around the bow and attached my tag and key. Using glue dots, I attached the key and tag. Then I popped up the heart lock using. I used my Corner Chomper and rounded each corner using the 1/4" setting. The last thing I did was add stickles to the centers of the flowers on the patterned paper.

So, that's my card. Hopefully, it's enough to will a spot on Robyn's team. I would so love to design for her, since she is the reason I found my way back to crafting. Long story, but I hadn't even considered getting back into crafting until I watched one of your videos on youtube.com. I didn't even know what a Cricut was. That was April of 2010 and by July, I had one and now I am ADDICTED or as my daughter says obsessed. Either way, I'm having fun.

HAPPY New Year - 2011 is Gonna Rock!!

It has been quite a while since I posted and I've kinda missed it. I completed so many fun projects over the holidays (I will post some pictures of these projects at the end of this post), but I was also super busy, plus I ended up getting pneumonia the week before Christmas. YUCK! I'm finally feeling better and hope the recovery continues.

I've been thinking a lot about my crafting and what are the blessings it gives me. First, I love to be creative. There's nothing better than sitting down with raw materials and coming out with something beautiful. It is so relaxing and rewarding. Second, it gives me some "me" time. If you have children, you know that is a precious gift. For years I didn't spend much time with myself. I was always chasing kids and running the household...so much so, that I worried what I would do with myself when my children didn't need me for every aspect of their lives. That's where crafting fills the void. It's given me something to occupy my time, plus, my children are catching the crafting bug. So, I'm not losing the connection with my children as I feared, but building new bonds that will lead us into the adult years.

So, since crafting has given me so many blessings, how can I give back? I've decided to set a few goals for this year. I didn't want to have too many or I won't follow them. So, I decided on three goals.

1. Make time. Don't make excuses to not go to my craft room. It needs me as much as I need it.
2. Become more organized. Unlike most creative people, I can't work in a messy area.
3. Be free, creative, and enjoy what I'm doing.

So, with these three goals in mind, I made my first project of 2011.

When we moved to our new house (prepare yourself for the gasp), we "lost" every bit of my crafting supplies, including my sewing machine. We know where they were when we moved, but when I went to find them, they were not anywhere in our new house. My husband felt so bad, so for Christmas he bought me a new Singer all on his own. I was so surprised. Of course, I had to make something immediately.

Since this will be my first "real" sewing project in about 10 years, I wasn't sure what to pick. I finally decided on a purse. The pattern is Juliet by Me and My Sister Designs. I just love their patterns. They are so fun and versatile. I found this cherry material and I couldn't resist. My favorite colors are red and black.

I love it and now my daughter wants one with neon skulls. That's gonna be fun.

So, I think I'm off to a good start with meeting my goals. Now my wish for all of you, I hope that 2011 brings you joy and happiness...and much crafting!!!

These cards use the same Papertrey Ink stamps sets, Big and Bold Wishes, but they have different looks.

The first one uses Cloud 9 glittered paper for the background and the stamped image is embossed using Stampendous embossing power. I think the color choice gives this is more of a masculine look.



This one uses My Mind's Eye glittered paper and Papertrey Ink cardstock. I used Stampin' Up ink in Crumb Cake and die cut the image using Nestibilites. I think the pearls give it a delicate femine look.

My Pink Stamper winter challenge

 OK, so I didn't post things like I said I was going to, but our summer has been insane. We moved to a new town, once we got everything into our house (not put away), my mother-in-law decided she was going to move closer to us. That meant we had 35 years worth of stuff to move. Then my sister got married last weekend and I had the honor of making the wedding cake, a first for me. So now that all that is finished and school has started, we have a little time to breath.

So, now that I have the time to craft, this is my response to My Pink Stamper's winter cricut challenge. I hope you like it.
