2014 Christmas Card #3

Giving is always the best part of the Holidays. Today's card features Mimi and her friend exchanging gifts from the Penny Black's Christmas with Mimi stamp set and papers from My Mind's Eye 12 Days of Christmas 6 x 6 paper pad.

I stamped the image with Momento Tuxeo Black ink and colored it using my Copic Markers. I matted the image using patterned paper. I attached a piece of blue patterned paper to a standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 A2 card base created with Neenah Desert Storm cardstock from Simon Says Stamp. I cut banner ends in a few strips of patterned paper and added them under my sentiment.

I used sequins from the Simon Says Stamp November 2014 card kit to add flurries to the left side of the card. 

I just love these Mimi stamps. They are so fun to color. Stay tuned for the next card in my 2014 Christmas Card series.

2014 Christmas Card #1

As promised, my Christmas card series has begun. Today's card was made using papers from My Mind's Eye 12 Days of Christmas 6 x 6 paper pad. I've had this paper in my stash for quite some time. I realized the colors matched many of the elements in the Simon Says Stamp November 2014 Card kit.

I used the Sending Holiday Cheer stamp set by Hero Arts. I bought this last year and it has become one of my favorite Christmas stamps. I started of by creating a mask for both houses using Inkadinkado's Stamping Mask paper. Then I stamped the yellow house onto white Papertrey Ink cardstock and applied the mask to that house. I then stamped the second house slightly up from the other house to make it appear the green house is behind the yellow house.

Using Distress in the colors of Broken China, Evergreen Boughs, and Peacock Feathers, I created the sky. Using my Signo Uni-ball White Gel Pen, I added dots for snow. I then removed both masks and colored my houses with Copic Markers. Once that was finished, I used my Spellbinders circle dies and die cut around the image. I used a slightly larger scalloped circle and created a mat out of patterned paper. I adhered all of these together, added Diamond Stickles to the snow areas on the houses, and set this aside to dry.

I cut a 4 1/4 x 11 inch piece of white cardstock for my card base. I scored that at 5 1/2 and folded it to make a standard A2 card base. I then used strips of the paper and applied then across the card. I stamped my sentiment, added the enamel accents from My Mind's Eye that came in the SSS November Card Kit. Lastly, I adhered my focal image using foam dots and the card was done.

Sledding with Friends...and Penny Black

Today's card features a fun stamp from Penny Black's Christmas Everyday clear stamps set and My Mind's Eye 12 Days of Christmas 6 x 6 patterned papers.

I stamped the image on 120# watercolor paper with Stazon ink.

I used my Stampin' Up markers to watercolor the image.

I added thin lines of Marvy's Liquid Applique under the image to resemble snow. I lightly sprinkled this with glitter before heating with my heat gun.

The sentiment is from Penny Black's Christmas with Mimi clear stamp set. I used a Stampin' Up punch to punch the snowflake out of white cardstock, attached it and the sentiment with a Stampin' Up Glimmer brad and finished it of with Stardust Stickles.

This card is one of my favorites this year. I just love the idea of Teddy taking his friends to play in the snow. Such a happy thought.

MoJo Monday Challenge 266

After a long break, I'm back with a MoJo Monday card challenge. I colored this CC Designs Ice Cream Lucy stamp a few weeks ago and couldn't find the right project for her to call home, until now.

 

I colored the image with Copic Markers.

 

All papers are from My Mind's Eye Vanity Fair 6x6 pack.

STAMPtember Anniversay Card

Just a quick post to share a card I made using mostly stamps and plain cardstock. The base of the card is Very Vanilla cardstock from Stampin' Up. I stamped the background using a stamp from the Bliss set from Stampin' Up and used ink to distress the edges of the card.

 

The bird cage is from a My Mind's Eye stamp set I received in a Simon Says Stamp card kit. I think it's called Charming, but not sure.

 

The sentiment is a from a Simon Says Stamp set and the patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye. Both were also part of a Simon Says Stamp card kit.

 

I punched the heart from a piece of patterned paper and outlined it with a Sakura Stardust gel pen. I stamped the flowers from the same Bliss stamp set, cut them out and used a stylus on the back of the flowers to curve the petals backward to give them dimension. I added cream pearls from CTMH. The patterned paper behind the flowers are scraps from one of the pieces of patterned paper.

 

 

This card style is a little different for me. I typically don't stamp the background, but I enjoyed making it and will definitely try this again.

Oh, Happy Day!

I made this card using the August 2012 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit.

I used the stamped the zig-zag pattern around the card's edge and sponged the edges of the card using the same color ink.

The floral image is from the patterened paper. I used a glitter pen to add accents to the flower images and around the stamped image.

The sentiment is from a Studio Calico stamp set exclusive to Two Peas In a Bucket.

10,000 Hits and 1 Year Anniversary Giveaway!!!

It's hard to believe it's been a year since I started blogging. I have had so much fun sharing my creations with the world. I logged on the other day and much to my surprise, I had passed the 10,000 hit mark!!!! So, what better way to say thank you to all of my readers than to have a giveaway!

Senior Picture Scrapbook Page

Going through my pictures the other day, I came across me and my husband's Senior pictures. My picture was in good shape, but my husband's was bent on the corners and scratched up. So I thought I better preserve them before these get destroyed.

So here's the two-page layout I made. All three of my children said this was their favorite pages I've made so far.

Don't we look cheesey.

The paper is from DCWV The Rustic Stack, it's one of my favorites. The stamps are "Graceful" by My Mind's Eye. I love how imperfect they are. They go so well with this paper pack. The flowers are a huge grab bag of Prima flowers. All the ink is from Stampin' Up.

HAPPY New Year - 2011 is Gonna Rock!!

It has been quite a while since I posted and I've kinda missed it. I completed so many fun projects over the holidays (I will post some pictures of these projects at the end of this post), but I was also super busy, plus I ended up getting pneumonia the week before Christmas. YUCK! I'm finally feeling better and hope the recovery continues.

I've been thinking a lot about my crafting and what are the blessings it gives me. First, I love to be creative. There's nothing better than sitting down with raw materials and coming out with something beautiful. It is so relaxing and rewarding. Second, it gives me some "me" time. If you have children, you know that is a precious gift. For years I didn't spend much time with myself. I was always chasing kids and running the household...so much so, that I worried what I would do with myself when my children didn't need me for every aspect of their lives. That's where crafting fills the void. It's given me something to occupy my time, plus, my children are catching the crafting bug. So, I'm not losing the connection with my children as I feared, but building new bonds that will lead us into the adult years.

So, since crafting has given me so many blessings, how can I give back? I've decided to set a few goals for this year. I didn't want to have too many or I won't follow them. So, I decided on three goals.

1. Make time. Don't make excuses to not go to my craft room. It needs me as much as I need it.
2. Become more organized. Unlike most creative people, I can't work in a messy area.
3. Be free, creative, and enjoy what I'm doing.

So, with these three goals in mind, I made my first project of 2011.

When we moved to our new house (prepare yourself for the gasp), we "lost" every bit of my crafting supplies, including my sewing machine. We know where they were when we moved, but when I went to find them, they were not anywhere in our new house. My husband felt so bad, so for Christmas he bought me a new Singer all on his own. I was so surprised. Of course, I had to make something immediately.

Since this will be my first "real" sewing project in about 10 years, I wasn't sure what to pick. I finally decided on a purse. The pattern is Juliet by Me and My Sister Designs. I just love their patterns. They are so fun and versatile. I found this cherry material and I couldn't resist. My favorite colors are red and black.

I love it and now my daughter wants one with neon skulls. That's gonna be fun.

So, I think I'm off to a good start with meeting my goals. Now my wish for all of you, I hope that 2011 brings you joy and happiness...and much crafting!!!

These cards use the same Papertrey Ink stamps sets, Big and Bold Wishes, but they have different looks.

The first one uses Cloud 9 glittered paper for the background and the stamped image is embossed using Stampendous embossing power. I think the color choice gives this is more of a masculine look.



This one uses My Mind's Eye glittered paper and Papertrey Ink cardstock. I used Stampin' Up ink in Crumb Cake and die cut the image using Nestibilites. I think the pearls give it a delicate femine look.
